What do I hate most?

Kind of a negative feeling? But here's what I hate most: fake.

The best compliment my wife and I ever recevied was "you guys are very...real"

It made my life.

So should it tick me off that people are one way to me and another way online? It drives me crazy. I understand the desire to "try" out new identities, but I say if your experimental identities conflict with each other you are very likely a skitz.

Just a little rant...
hey kiddies, what you post online - everybody can see!!

I see these ridiculously hypocritical myspace/livejournal/loadofcrap.com sites of people and it makes me want to start a new email ministry where I email inks to grandma and grandpa and mom and dad.

So anyways - we have the first youth worship service in the new youth house tonight and we are not ready - did you think we would be?

Later-

I wonder how many people read this and thought of themselves...but then you would have to wonder about WHY they would think of themselves...

SACC folks - don't sweat it - I'm not going to be doing any kind of email ministry to anyone. I just think that people need to own what they write.

That's why I hate the edit feature in blogs - if you're gonna write it - own it.

If you screw up - own it.

That's it. Glad to see some of us got excited though!

I guess I'd ask what you mean by "fake". If it's our repression of our own obnoxious selves, I say,Go for it! Be fake! Am I fake when I want to blast someone I don't particularly like, but I don't? And later I hear from the Lord, "Hello...I put you there to support that person!" Am I fake when I want to snap at a friend because I'm having a totally awful, very bad day, but I "hold my tongue" instead? And if it's okay to be "fake" in these instances, who gets to draw the line and say it's bad here but okay there? I think if everyone on the face of the earth followed their heart all the time we'd all be in deep doo-doo.

I guess I'd ask what you mean by "fake". I'd say fake is not the real thing. A front.

Am I fake when I want to blast someone I don't particularly like, but I don't? No, you're smart. Blating people isn't real - it's rude.

And later I hear from the Lord, "Hello...I put you there to support that person!" be careful little prophet... :)

Am I fake when I want to snap at a friend because I'm having a totally awful, very bad day, but I "hold my tongue" instead? see above...

And if it's okay to be "fake" in these instances, who gets to draw the line and say it's bad here but okay there? It's not ok. It's never ok. Fake is fake.

I think if everyone on the face of the earth followed their heart all the time we'd all be in deep doo-doo.I'd have to disagree with that one. I'd say if everyone on earth verbally raped one another, as you are describing above, we'd be in what you said. But if we were real, we'd see that we need and are made for each other and we'd support and depend on each other and it'd all be cool and mutually edifying.

I hear what you're saying, but...sometimes the real me IS rude. And I think some people I interact with could hear, "I feel like being really rude now; sorry." and be okay with it. But some people couldn't. And these are people I HAVE to get along with, it's my "job" to get along with them and have a relationship. I don't know, maybe I just don't trust everyone and I'd be really sad if I hurt someone while I was being "real".

Hey Allie - thanks for the continued conversation here...

I think you are hiting on the real problem...not enough people are "real"...

You really can't trust everyone and so that forces you to pretend yourself, perhaps as a self-defense mechanism. And not just you, but everyone...

It's a complicated problem...I was just talking with T-Heresa (via email) about this in a way. I noticed that the only way this kind of a society, where honesty is valued, (which I don't think it is in America) is to live in a society where everyone is committed to Christianity as a life-transforming faith, not simply a life-addition...

I'm still thinking this through though...thanks...
